Targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis and lower spine. The postures, which are mostly seated, are held for three to five to eight minutes at a time. By holding the postures for such extended periods we allow the connective tissues time to respond helping to promote healthy, fluid filled joints. It increases flexibility and is a great aid for learning to sit in meditation. Yin Yoga is a perfect compliment to the dynamic and muscular styles of yoga such as Vinyasa Flow.
Please note Yin Yoga is NOT a restorative yoga. Like all yoga practices, if the tissues you are targeting are damaged in some way, please give yourself time to heal before resuming your regular practice.
