Developed by Joseph Pilates in the first half of the 20th century, Pilates is system of exercise for the whole body that emphasizes attention to detail, breathing and precision of movement to increase strength and build functional movement (using more than one muscle group).
This class will use exercises from the Pilates mat repertoire. The primary focus of the class will be to build core strength and control to foster optimal movement of the spine, hips and shoulders. Pilates emphasizes the building of long, lean muscles and improves muscle elasticity and joint stability. Pilates uses functional movement to train your body to move in safe and efficient patterns of motion.
No previous experience necessary. Everything will be explained and variations will be offered to increase or decrease the difficulty.
