Pilates 101 is for people who have no idea about Pilates or want to take things at a slower pace than the drop in class. In this session we will progressively learn the foundations of the Pilates method.
Pilates is a method of training strength in the body that focuses on breathing and precision of movement. Exercises are done to target specific muscle groups and bring awareness to the movements and how to execute them precisely. Focus will be particularly on muscles that support the core and proper posture.
The basic level exercises will be introduced progressively with precise instructions and time for questions and special attention to alignment. Each student will work within their own limits since the exercises are adaptable to all strength and experience levels. We will discuss basic anatomy and proper technique as we learn and do the exercises on which more difficult variations can be built.
